The Different Types of Numbers in Different Languages
In most languages you can have basically just singular and plural. That's what English has, Mandarin has that's what many many languages have. There are arguments that there are languages like apparently Piraha is argued to have no number. The source of all the exceptions to rules that you ever find. And so it's possible not to have it but if you're going to do number in most languages probably are going to want to do it.
