Star's Trauma

Helen trusted her cousin Andrew J. Peters as a sort of father figure for star. Starting in 1917, when star was only 11 years old, Andrew began sexually abusing star. In the hotel rooms he booked along the way, Andrew gave star Ether and molested her. Although the abuse remained hidden, star's trauma began showing in different ways. A vast difference from the cheery, extroverted child she had been. She also began to dress differently, wearing masculine, oversized clothes to hide her body.
