Internationalization of Higher Education in Japan: A Positive Beneficial Trend
The participants themselves did not necessarily have a clear idea of what internationalization should be, or should look like. They were aware of this process of internationalization that's going on broadly in Japan. You can't help but notice it if you're in Japanese universities. A lot of participants saw perhaps those who were in the marginalized group as we saw it. The barriers that they were having and preventing them from whether it was getting promotion or being able to have more of a voice in their department,. Those same barriers were stopping internationalization more broadly in the Japanese higher education system from moving forward.
