The Effect of Partisan Leanings in the Elections
Voters in purple jurisdictions are more likely to be partisan, but it's not clear if that has an effect on the behavior of election officials. If a county clerk is re-elected with 55 or 60 per cent of the votes, they might try all those different discretionary toos at you have at your disposal to affect the elections. We don't have any quite clean identification strag to estimate the effect of the partisan leanings of the jurisdiction.
