The most important industry when we're talking about military is semiconductors for one very simple reason, which is that if you want to deliver death directly to wherever your opponent is. And this became very apparent in the Gulf War of 1991, when precision munitions first showed their stuff on the battlefield and just basically destroyed everything in their path easily.
