The united states pushed aside the old british empire and became the dominant new empire of the world. It proceeded to build d an american empire. For historical reasons, it didn't call it that, but for all practical purposes, that's what it was. And this was very profitable to do. The german system was defeated in the two worst world wars humanity has ever seen. In the second world war, the japanese were brought in and they were defeated. But i also would go back further to say that basically world war one, 19 20, a century ago, was the time when the united states push aside the old British empire.
