CHAPTER

The Insurrection and the Rolling Strike of 1876

The president Rutherford behaze who had managed to finagle a win out of that disputed election in 1876 he now in office calls this rolling strike an insurrection despite it not being aimed at government per se but at private companies. He uses presidential power to call in the army to get the trains running again at all costs so ultimately state power as embodied by force of arms is invoked. In total over the course of the strike 45 people were killed yet nonetheless politicians and the press portrayed the workers as bloodthirsty savages right not the governors or the police or the and militias who had actually murdered them.
