I spoke to the Chancellor last week in a meeting with MPs. He said they were going to maintain the spending plans of the previous government. But that means real-term cuts because of inflation and interest rates for that matter. I mean, the financial position of the public sector is dire now. It's very hard to see where further cuts would fall. Unless more money is put into public services, people are going to be left in a spot. They're the ones who are saying they should be the efficiency savings, not me.
