Is There a Deeper Tradition of Disillusionment With Scientists?

I think there's a baseline of distrust of scientific experts in the United States that bears the marks of this long tradition of argumentation about scientists having a kind of inhuman view of persons, right? And I think a sort of fundamentally skewed and dangerous sense of who we are as human beings. But it doesn't really get much of a handle on it by making these huge generalizations. We need to talk about specific things going on, the government telling you what to put in your body,. That's a very fraught process, and there's a lot to talk about there.
