The Role of Polyester in the Value Chain

The world markets are realizing that we are still stuck. And it's also being stuck with some of our past. The main problem comes when you go down the value chain. We've always done well at the raw material front, be it natural fiber or even polyester staple fiber. But production is a fairly dispersed and not very efficient once you come down to the weaving and processing part. That sort of flows down into downstream industries like apparel. To compete in the global markets, you're jostling over very, very tiny margins. Every bit of the cost adds up in making you uncompetitive in the world markets.
