He eventually sours on Nixon over time before his death, though he writes a letter to Nixon asking Nixon to speak out on civil rights again. LBJ only cared about politics. Like everyone I talked to about Lyndon Johnson said like his, his sports were politics. That's what he was good at. The only way he used it was transactionally.
