A lot of clinical work is this two-step dance. I think a degree of distress tolerance and developing that in a thoughtful way can be important. Another practice for me has been various mindfulness practices, which can be a kind of acceptance practice. Can I breathe through something? Can I develop the capacity for untangling my egoic self from a particular thought stream? So I'm not as wrapped up in it?"
