"I grew up pretty nonconfrontational. And so I get nervous about saying, my tendency is to be a truth teller and to be direct," he says. "How can I be in service to that CEO? Sometimes delivering bad news." He adds: "But empathetic doesn't mean not being clear ... Doesn't necessarily mean not telling somebody, Hey, these were the objectives.
