The way that you describe the seduction of even these oligarchal or at least certainly potent figures in the tech world, Zuckerberg et al., is in a sense just a large-scale version of what we're all experiencing when we're propagandized. As long as you keep it in the hands of a tiny number of corporations, it becomes very manageable. In the end, we are all susceptible to quite primal forces and quite deep psychological stimuli.
