I really wanted there to be some heart in the book, you know, not just sometimes when I read novels that are really funny. And of course, I'm very fond of the love story part of it. Like the characters are on a spectrum, say, where you like and know more about some characters than others. The challenge in the humor book is to make them not cartoonish. Exactly. You clearly don't like for every character, do you write like a backstory, whether that enters into the book or not? There are authors that do that. Maybe that's a good thing to do.
