NAC isn't licensed or endorsed by the MHRA and its efficacy with regard to preventing that liver toxicity isn't fully established yet in all patterns of paracetamol overdose. But I think it's pretty fair to say that there are a lot of institutions that are now doing this. Now as we said recently we've changed locally to something called the SNAP regime which is the Scottish and Newcastle anti-emetic protocol but over 12 hours instead of 21. This does actually make a phenomenal difference to the requirement of beds doesn't it because this is a really really common presentation certainly where I work.
