I do not see Orban as being pro-Putin or pro-Russia, I see him as being very much pro-Orban. And it may well be that there are financial reasons why he's happy to make all kinds of deals. But the point is rather that for a long time, actually triangulating between Russia and the West has worked to his advantage. The parallel I can't help but draw is actually with Lukashenko in Belarus. This is a guy who for so long tried to basically play off the two sides,. When push came to shove, he had to go with Russia because he had no alternative.
