Is There a Difference Between the Will and the Intellect?
For thomas, the will and the intellect are both spiritual powers. He thinks there is similarity between the will's desire for happiness and our intellect's grasp of the first principles. So if you think about first principles, there might be general first principles like the principle of non contradiction. We're trying to see what these things are and they behave in particular ways. The as in nature, is directed towards the good or some notion of happiness.
