The Importance of Thinking About Ethics

I think of philosophy as almost just thinking itself. And I also like the feeling of very incisively clearly expressing something or shutting down an argument or making some advance in insight. It's fun. But if I'm just reading and thinking about some abstract cosmological question, not necessarily that much at stake. You know, people who study ethics, you know, it doesn't necessarily make them better people trying to understand that doesn't necessarily have a direct effect on how you end up acting.
