Why We Care About Biodiversity

There's one like there's stopping biodiversity loss which is the like tackling all the other problems. There are particular samples where you can do really focused biodiversity stuff but you don't stop losing it until you tackle all of the other issues. I wonder if we should take a step back and talk about why biodiversity matters in the first place. For example some people care about it intrinsically because they think it's kind of inherently good for there to be a wide range of plants and animals in the world. Others seem to care about it more instrumentally. Different species do different valuable things for parts of the ecosystem that humans value economically or just enjoy.
