I want to get into the neural mechanisms that you propose underlying your account of attention here also. So I think one way of seeing that I'm trying to do a unifying account is that the self is related to attention in some way. And my idea is that even bottom up attention is still being weighed against the interests of the subject. That doesn't mean that they don't have different effects, but it's basically an input to a common system.
