The History of Thorium

The story of Thorium begins in 1815 at the Falun copper mine in Sweden. For decades, after its discovery, there was no practical use found for Thorium. It wasn't until 1885 that it found its first and biggest use as a mantle for gas lamps. While Thorium is usually quite safe, it can be dangerous if ingested or inhaled.
