The Impact of Mobile Phones in India
Finnish anthropologist Cipatanyamen carried out research into the impact of mobile phones in a West Bengal village. In 2003, there were 10 people who possessed a mobile phone in this village of around 2,500 people and by 2013, every household had a mobile phone. Around 4% of the villagers were doing some kind of business and they realized very soon that its phones are useful for business. When women started possessing their personal phones, it was easier for them to travel because if there was any problem, they could call home.
