Is There Anything That Is Not First in the Mind?

Most of our knowledge in the traditional system is floating. It's not real knowledge, it's that my teacher told me this and I memorized it. When a child does that it becomes part of a much more profound place in their brain because they are driven by their interest. And so Montessori actually says this should be bang on the door of memory but then memory has to pass it to knowledge.
