The US Sucked in the World Cup
The US was lucky even to make it this far, Stefan says. Sweden thoroughly outplayed a team that has been a traditional rival and has gotten the better of the US on many occasions including in 2021 and the Olympics. Meghan Rapinoe, who never misses penalties, had missed one in her entire career as far as I know. Head Sofia Smith, their best offensive player in the World Cup, could have literally just tapped the ball and having it roll slowly into the goal and she kicked it over the bar. So we would be having a totally different conversation now if those little things had gone differently.
