Eisenhower's Broad Front Policy
Prior to DDA, the Allies drew up a plan on how they would progress through France. I think at that time, the broad front kind of fell apart because Montgomery wanted to get as far north as he could and Patton wanted to get into Germany. After the war, General Beatle Smith, who was Eisenhower's chief of staff, pointed out that they had diverged very little from the original DDA plan. He was proud of that. Basically saying the broad front basically won the war.
