This chapter explores the socioeconomic challenges and opportunities associated with carbon transition in emerging markets, highlighting the difficulties posed by rising energy prices and interest rates due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Despite these obstacles, there is a sense of optimism that enhanced focus on energy security may facilitate a shift towards cleaner energy solutions, particularly for low-income countries.
