How Do Ants Transport Leaves?
Ligke: I was looking at a type of work organization, which is called task partitioning. It's taking a job that's notionally a single job, but breaking it down into sub tasks and then transferring material. Foraging and leaf cutting out is a good example. They will cut the leaf in the tree, they'll carry it back to the nest, and then they'll chew it up and stick it in their fungus garden. So i was interested in looking at the efficienci why were they doing this? And why do these ants put leaves in piles for for the next lot, for the next ants to pick up? Yet it basity comes down to efficiency.
