How Do You Know if You've Found the Right Phage?

How do you know if you've found the right phage? Do you just deduce it there because the bacteria have disappeared or can you actually see phages themselves? Yes, they are very small. They're about 200 nanometers. So they're a tiny fraction of the wids, even of your fingernail. You have to keep looking for new phages as new strains of bacteria evolve.
