The nature of these charges, which is questionable in terms of severity, really does lend itself to this sort of performative action. It's one thing to parade around and try to make yourself a martyr off of that. But what if he's charged if it eventually comes to pass with January 6? You're not going to have the same kind of audience or reaction if you try to turn it into a show. This one in New York is far easier to trivialize. He ain't going to jail for this, I don't think.
