The High Level Design of the Ghost in Spelunky
When I played spelunky I saw taking like high level design from the roguelike genre and applying it to something else was completely mind-blowing. A lot of my actual game development work is heavily inspired by spelunky in my experience in that genre in general. For example with FTL post you know post spunky days we very much needed a hunger clock.
