Can You Recover From Illness as Faster With More Sleep?

i read somewhere that when you don't get enough sleep, your immunity can go down by as much as 500%. And sure enough, i caught a cold because i wasn't sleeping more than five to six hours for four days strait. Now this was, of course, my personal experiment, but i'm wondering if there's any signs to this. It's amazing how sleep has a direct effect on our immune function. Everybody out there should think about if you've ever gotten an illness, cold, flue, what have you? What does your body want to do? It wants to lay in bed and recover.
