The Advantage of Not Having a Resource
There are ways in which not having a resource can make you more creative and more resourceful. We have lots of research programs on thin film, volativoltaics and paraffskides to make electricity from solar. Could we be living in worlds where we have found something different and actually solar is way cheaper now than it is? Maybe. But I don't worry too much about that. It's probably more important that everybody has the same exact keyboard and learned it the same way.
