Lipids are more efficient in terms of energy per gram. We produce a lot of aerobic ATP for a little bit of tissue weight. So that's why it's more energetically efficient for us to carry sometimes alittle bit of excessive lipids compared to excessive carbohydrates. If we could do that, that actually comes with a negative consequence because of the amount of water. It's evolved to have both systems because they work in different situations.
