Trading to Win Versus Trading Not to Lose

The worst traders that I have ever encountered are perpetual bulls or perpetual bears. They're not listening to what the market is telling them, they're not really following the market. The analogy I use again in the radical renewal book is that just like a psychologist who's good will listen to their client, a person's coming in to work on their problems. What's going on in their lives? What's that all about? How might they be able to deal with it? If I start to impose my idea of what I think their problem is before they even open their mouths, I'm not going to be a very effective psychologist. It's no different with markets. We have to sit back
