The Effects of Bariatric Surgery on Weight Loss
Prader-Willi syndrome is one useful model to try to tease out new and surprising aspects of the hunger regulation system. Another kind of surprisingly useful model is bariatric surgery. People do lose weight after these procedures but nobody actually knows why. In theory, the explanation for the effect of bariatric surgery on weight could be as simple as the fact that you can't fit very much food in your stomach after this surgery so you can't eat very much in one go.
