Are You Optimistic That You Can Give the Right Brownie Points?
Sally Kohn: recommender systems are great optimizes at their brownie point system, except we give em the wrong brownie points. She says if you can maintain some level of uncertainty over what is the right thing to optimize for, it might be able to make a better guess about users' wants and needs. Kohn: At the end of the day, trying to predict that in terms of not just exposing people to click-through rates will work much better than giving them false choices.
