The End of the Worspight

In September 1945 the ship's battle ensign would be presented to St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. 15 months later she was brought into Portsmouth Harbor to have guns and other equipment removed before being sold for scrap. There were some calls for her to be turned into a museum ship but these were not successful. In March 1947 Tugs would arrive to take the Worspight for scrapping. However in route a storm hit the channel and the tow lines would break and the ship began to flood. For some this last act of defiance by the ship was welcome.
