The Importance of a Hard Task
In studies with different ages of kids where they worked on a task, and then they were praised for their ability or intelligence. Or they were praised the process, their effort or their strategies. And we saw over and over and over again that the kids praised for intelligence developed in that situation, more of a fixed mind set. They didn't want a hard task. When we gave them a hard task, they lost confidence, their performance plummeted, and they lied about it later.
