Biden Reaffirms US Defense of the Philippines

President Biden hosted Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. at the White House on Monday amid heightened tensions with China. This visit comes as tensions are soaring in the South China Sea where China, the Philippines and several other Southeast Asian nations have overlapping claims. The head of the US Pacific Fleet has said that the US is ready to help the Philippines resupply a grounded naval ship in theSouth China Sea.
