The Effects of Saline on Inflammatory Responses

There's some really interesting, but honestly, speculative data about saline that may increase inflammatory responses compared to lactated ringers. The pancreatitis issue is interesting because the lower your pH, the more activated the pancreatic enzymes are. And so if that sort of adds fuel to these pancreatic enzymes, it might worsen the pancreatitis. But in sepsis, which is often like at least an internal medicine, often what we are using IV fluids for, who knows? I don't think that question hasn't been answered.
