Reagan had long detested the Berlin Wall. His first time seeing it, I want to say it was 1978. Reagan found that just appalling but also very revealing about the nature of Soviet communism. When people are allowed to freely choose, to determine their own futures, they will choose to escape a place like that into a free world.
