Data copied from devices at entry points into the United States, including airports and border crossings, get saved for 15 years in a database searchable by thousands of CBP employees. The data includes contacts, call logs, messages, and photos from phones, tablets and computers. It could also contain social media posts, medical and financial information, or internet browsing history. This practice has been going on since 2007, with users' personal data being accessible to over 2,700 CBP agents.
