Eroticization of the mother is really a preoccupation with one's physical and emotional origins. If unsuccessful, it may lead to neurosis in adult life. In this film, time seems to stand still. The problems stefhan and valleri face keep them in a deadlock. There's no possibility for a positive outcome. Elizabeth and elona are symbolic of a relationship that cannot progress because it is predicated on dishonesty and reckless self sabotaging behavior.
