CHAPTER

The Japanese Culture of Not Caring About the Shareholders

The pendulum is swung so far towards the shareholders have no rights. The company that trades with a 50 million whole evaluation has 200 million of net assets, no debt and still doesn't do anything because they just don't care. And the reason they don't care is invariably they don't own any stock. They'd rather go to the golf course four or five times a week that the company owns even though selling it, redeveloping it is worth five times more. But you can't realistically expect humans who only have finite life spans to plan 4000 year floods.
