How to Practice Meta-Awareness

People can practice what I call meta-awareness. When we don't have controlled attention and our mind wanders, that's when we're susceptible to distractions. If you feel an urge to go to social media, ask yourself: Why do I want to go? It's easy to make these automatic actions much more intentional and controlled. There's another thing that people can do, which is practicing forethought. That means understanding how your current actions are going to affect your future self.
