How Do You Increase Your Pace?

I feel like I've been working hard on increasing my kind of endurance in the distance that I can run. But I am struggling a little bit with trying to, I feel as though the longer I run at the moment, the slower I am. The things that have worked for me are doing kind of structured speed workouts. And then slowing down those easy runs or run walking. Do shorter reps, so like 400s, 800s, even just like two minutes on two minutes off that sort of thing and get your body used to running faster. This is my plan for next year is to try and get a 5k PB, because at the moment it's not enough anyway.
