The Multiple Concussion Effect on Brain Structure

Study followed injured athletes, scanning them multiple times in the course of a injury. And then, following a medical clearance, we also imaged them so up to one year after a complete return to play. All subjects showed consistent long term decline in blood flow but this effect was larger for people with prior history of concussion. In the weight matter, we saw a similar, albeit somewhat muted effect, in that we saw changes in measurements of actonal anisotropy and mean diffusivity,. which would quatify tissue morphology and swelling injury effects.
