Why an Intentional Consideration of Race Should Be Part of the Admissions Process
Is there any justification for what Harvard's current policies are that you can stand by? I mean, we may all agree that having a diverse campus is good for education. But is there any constitutional case in your mind for intentionally considering race in admissions that can pass muster? There was an interesting question about whether or not the universities made a mistake decades ago when they rooted their rationale for including race in diversity as opposed to a reparations style approach. And so there were some interesting questions about, well, wait, would it violate the 14th amendment if we said that?"
