I think one of the things a punishment chapter talks about is this tension between what philosophers call reactive attitudes. And then I try to go as I'm out in the world, understanding that almost everyone is operating as a result of some root cause. So there's a ton of wisdom in realizing that I have a choice here. I can respond to this in the kind of moral accountability way or not.
